Exploring Vanuatu On A Small Budget – 5 Money Saving Tips

A trip to Vanuatu needn’t be expensive, especially if you’re prepared to plan ahead, shop for bargains and opt for public transport where necessary. Here are 5 simple ways you can save money on holiday at our Port Vila accommodation.

1. If you are planning to visit Erakor or Hideaway Island, plan your trip for after 4pm. Both of these popular attractions, which are located close to our holiday resort Vanuatu, only charge a fee up until that time. Depending on the time of year you’re visiting, you can still enjoy a good few hours of daylight on the islands if you visit after 4, and you will trip will be much cheaper.

2. If you’re exploring Port Vila and looking for somewhere to enjoy lunch, avoid the tourist orientated restaurants near the harbour and look out for one of the many local eateries which offer a freshly prepared meal for just 1000vt. Alternatively, why not enjoy a barbecue at our Port Vila accommodation?

3. Although there are some great items to be found in the shops and markets on Port Vila’s main street, as you might expect, some of the city’s real bargains can be found away from the tourist areas. Take a short walk up the hill into the area known locally as Chinatown and you’ll stumble across several shops selling the same items for much less.

4. It’s possible to buy Tusker, Vanuatu’s local beer straight from the brewery, which isn’t too far from our accommodation Port Vila Vanuatu. This works out cheaper than buying from the supermarket.

5. Don’t forget that the best things in life really are free. A stroll along the beach will relax your body and mind, while providing you with plenty of fresh coastal air, and a sun kissed glow to your skin for the price of absolutely nothing!
