Vanuatu Travel Tips – Travelling with Kids

If you are travelling with kids to our Port Vila resort for the first time, there are a few simple things you should know to keep the whole family safe during your stay.

Dealing with Mosquitoes

For the majority of the year, mosquitoes are not a serious concern here. However, since the mosquitoes in Vanuatu may carry malaria and dengue fever – both of which can be extremely dangerous to young children, it’s important to take precautions during your holiday at our accommodation Vanuatu. The best form of defence is simple: use mosquito repellent everyday on any exposed area of skin and particularly below the knees. Of course, it’s worth noting that many people holiday here without ever being bothered by a single mosquito, but since even disease-free bites can be itchy and irritating, it’s best to come prepared.

Take Care in the Shallows

With so much sparkling tropical water to explore, it’s likely that you and the kids will spend plenty of time wading through the shallows. Guests at our Port Vila resort are advised that there may be very sharp pieces of coral, spiky sea urchins and other potentially painful things to step on lurking beneath the surface. For this reason, it’s best to wear reef shoes whenever you’re in the water, and you can pick these up cheaply at shops close to our accommodation Port Vila Vanuatu.

Opt for Bottled Water

Although the tap water here is safe to drink – if you’re travelling with young children we recommend buying bottled water from shops and ordering bottled water with your meals out.
